How Your Business Could Benefit From The New Facebook App
It seems Mark Zuckerberg has been listening to complaints as earlier this week Facebook launched a new, improved app for iOS products such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and support for their mobile service.
Although you could previously access Facebook on your iPhone, users encountered several problems with the service, problems which led to our very own Matt Fielding making this comment following the introduction of the Timeline feature last month –[blockquote]Dear Facebook: while I’m not one who moans every time you try to improve your service with these minor modifications, it would be nice if you could just make your iPhone app WORK?!?![/blockquote]
With the introduction of these new features Facebook has opened themselves up to a huge portion of the mobile web market with over 25% of smartphones currently iPhones. With these potential new users and the fact that over 350 million people access the social media site through their mobile, now would be the ideal time to make any changes to your Facebook fan page.
Our very own Facebook page has been under going a redesign, here are a few things we think you should take a look at.
Facebook Platform is a system used by developers to build custom applications, these can be used to manipulate your fan page to do whatever you want. We’ve set some up which allow you to read this very blog directly from our Facebook page.
Facebook Markup Language
Facebook Markup Language, or FBML, is a system for entering HTML elements into the tabs on your page. This will require some experience with HTML but with the knowledge of any good web design company, we are able to set up a page in keeping with the style of your web page.[feature]Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004. At the beginning of 2009 a study found that the site had overtaken Myspace as the most used social networking service and 3 months later it was announced that over 40% of the U.S. population were on Facebook. Currently there are:-
– Over 800 million active users
– Close to 1 billion objects being interacted with (pages, groups, etc)
– More than 7 million Facebook integrated apps and websites.
– Over 2 billion likes and comments every day.
– An average of 250 million photos uploaded each day.[/feature]
